Sage Brocklebank

ENTREPRENEUR

Sage Brocklebank is a storyteller first, entrepreneur second. Born and raised in Vancouver, Sage has spent over 25 years performing on stage and screen, but his creative drive has never been limited to acting. In 2018, inspired by his father’s hands-on approach to home renovation, Sage began restoring and repurposing homes across the city. Since then, he has transformed and subleased more than 50 houses and two apartment buildings, creating imaginative, functional living spaces while Vancouver’s development landscape shifts around permits and policy.

Problem Solver.

With a deep belief in win-win solutions, Sage is a trusted problem solver for builders and developers seeking to activate idle properties. His signature projects  [SkyTrain Studio Project and Apartment Sage] blend creative flair with practical innovation. His approach is always collaborative, always community-minded, and never boring: fun is a vital part of Sage’s process.

SkyTrain Studio

Retired SkyTrain cars are being transformed into mobile, affordable artist studios—bringing creativity to unexpected places while preserving Vancouver’s transit history and supporting local artists.

St. George Renovation

From 2023-2025, Sage transformed 17 vacant apartments in North Vancouver into much needed housing for newcomers to Vancouver.

Powell Street Renovation

In the fall of 2024, Sage transformed 31 units in Gastown. He took a building that was extremely rundown and mismanaged and transformed it into beautiful artist spaces.

Swimming Pool Conversion

Sage transformed a costly, unused indoor pool in a mansion into a vibrant movie lounge and flex space—turning a burden into a shared community asset.

Artist.

Sage’s work lives at the intersection of art, space, and purpose—a place where good stories can thrive in real life.

Raised by a schoolteacher and counsellor with a love for the arts, and mentored by the visionary Alan Langdon, Sage grew up valuing both structure and imagination. Whether he’s working with tenants, landlords, artists, or city officials, he brings a rare combination of vision, empathy, and follow-through.

Philosophy

Sage Brocklebank is a Vancouver-based entrepreneur and creative problem-solver using unconventional strategies to tackle some of the city’s most pressing challenges—chief among them, housing and cultural space shortages. While he’s known to many for his work as an actor, Sage’s primary focus today is finding imaginative, practical ways to make better use of underutilized spaces.

Through his company, Apartment Sage, he partners with property owners to breathe life back into half-empty buildings. His team leases vacant apartments, renovates them at no cost to the owner, and sublets them legally for fixed terms to newcomers to Canada. The result is a win-win: steady cash flow for owners, and safe, short-term housing for individuals and families in transition.

Sage is also spearheading a bold upcycling initiative to convert retired SkyTrain cars from Expo 86 into mobile, work-only artist studios. These refurbished cars—iconic symbols of Vancouver’s transit legacy—will be placed across the province to bring affordable creative space into parks, empty lots, and public areas where it’s needed most.

At the core of Sage’s work is a belief in the power of adaptive reuse. He sees buildings, trains—even temporary situations—as opportunities for reinvention. By blending design, empathy, and entrepreneurship, Sage is turning vacancy into vitality and creating space for people to thrive.
