Transforming Transit into Creativity
Reimagining Space for Vancouver's Artists
Discover how we are turning retired SkyTrain cars into vibrant, mobile studios for artists across British Columbia.
Innovative Solutions for Creative Spaces

Vancouver is losing creative space, but what if we could turn a piece of the city’s transit legacy into a solution?
In partnership, The Narrow Group and Apartment Sage are transforming retired SkyTrain Mark I cars into mobile, affordable, work-only artist studios. These iconic cars will be reimagined and reconditioned at our Langley facility, then deployed across the province, from empty parking lots to public parks—to bring art to unexpected places and give artists the space they need to thrive.
Each studio is designed for functionality and comfort, powered externally, and built with sustainability in mind. It’s a bold blend of art, history, and adaptive reuse, creating low-cost studios while preserving a piece of Expo 86.
This project is privately funded, and driven by our shared mission: to support local artists, activate communities, and reimagine what’s possible with what we already have.
